Cop goes ballistic in Pasig City

MANILA, Philippines - A Pasig City policeman on Friday went ballistic after security guards of the Ortigas Center accosted him because of an alleged parking violation.

A Bayan Patroller took video footage of Senior Inspector Oscar Magsibang as he brandished his firearm, a “baby Armalite,” while shouting at security guards and even shoving them around.

Magsibang is the Deputy Chief of Investigation of the Pasig City Police Office.

His actions frightened many bystanders along General Lucban Street in Pasig, reported the
Bayan Patroller.

A closed-circuit television camera caught the scenes. The footage it caught also showed how Magsibang called for backup and became increasingly arrogant after the SWAT team he called arrived.

But in the end, it was Magsibang who had the security guards arrested.

Interviewed by ABS-CBN News, Magsibang said he was agitated because a group of security guards had surrounded his car and pointed a gun at him.

At a Pasig City police station, he said, however, that an "amicable settlement" was made with the chief of the security guards. He said he even offered an apology.

A quick check of scenes taken by the CCTV camera showed security guards did surround Magsibang, However there was no indication they had pointed a gun at Magsibang as he claimed. Report by Henry Omaga Diaz, ABS-CBN News
